Our Story

Family owned since 1986.

Second Edition Books was created in 1986 when Kathleen Finch bought an existing used bookstore.  She immediately moved the store to a larger space on Broadway St. in uptown Butte and began expanding.  In 1997, she and Tom bought an old hardware store on Montana street and moved every single book 3 blocks south. Ann Finch-Johnston has been the owner of Second Edition Books since January 2012 when she took the store over from her mother, Kathleen Finch. Mother and daughter continue to work side by side in this family owned Montana business.
